Australia's Population, To Grow or Not to Grow

The future of the population of Australia is a big issue, and it is getting bigger as several critics, media, economists, church representatives and analysts make their own stands about it. There are so many sides to be tackled. First, is it a part of the government plan or just an insurmountable event that will welcome the country on the coming years? And then, will it be beneficial for the country or will just lead to more poorer Australians? All these and more are the reasons why the prediction of the future population became sensational. And this is not just domestically, but also internationally. This is because immigration to Australia by many nationalities might be threatened by whatever results there may have according to this prediction.

Just last February, the government released their Third Intergenerational Report. It said there that by 2050, the total number of Australians living in the country will sum up to 36 million. The population is expected to grow by 13.7 million or nearly 62 percent on the present level. This report earned mixed reaction, leading to various, debates and creation of different forecasts.

36 million is quite large for the country. What contributes on the number is the growing birth rate and increase in immigration to Australia each year. Even if the island is big enough to accommodate the number, many are still doubtful because of its possible effect on the economy. And while others are feeling this way, many are calm, saying that the growth in population will be one of the best thing that can happen to Australia.

Economists are torn about this. They are thinking if to populate is still a very good step for the country. One side is insisting that larger population may complicate the current system in the country. Unemployment and poverty may rise. On the other side, some economists are saying that the country need to populate. They are basing their side on the possibility that if there are more people, demand will be higher, leading to creation of more businesses and then more jobs. Some of the industries that will affected are housing and real estate, education, business sector, motor vehicles and more. Both sides have lend their justifications, and up to now, no one is awarded as right.

Whatever result there may be, the most affected sector are people who are holding or about to apply for travel visa to Australia. There are some who are urging the government to put hiatus on their massive immigration program, which was started for centuries now. But this program is already a part of their system, a great contributor to their economy. This is maybe the reason why immigration to Australia continuous. Immigrants shouldn't be afraid because as long as Australia need them, they will have a glimpse of the Land of Opportunities.

Australia, the Most Friendly Place for Children

It's official, the world's friendliest place for children is Australia. Immigration of families with kids are best spent in the country down south. This is according to a survey conducted by the HSBC bank. This survey was done through the participation of 3,100 expatriates from 50 countries. Respondents are those who are already living and working in their respective countries. They made their remarks by rating their adopted homes on quality of childcare, education, ease of integration, costs of raising children and time spent on outdoor activities.

The survey revealed that Australia is the top when it comes to providing the best environment for healthy and active children. It is also found out that there are more than three quarters of expat kids spending more time outdoors than in their home country. Children immigrants also found it easier to make friends with Australian citizens and other nationalities. They also found ease in adapting to their new school environment. This award given to Australia is related to its beaches, healthy outdoor lifestyle and friendly schools. Other contributing factors are Australia's attractive tourist destinations and diverse wildlife.

Among all countries, after the bringing up of the survey, Australia ended up having the largest proportion of expat parents who claimed that their life and their family improved after moving down south, as compare that of their mother countries. They respondents find their move beneficial and more favorable for the whole family.

This report is a clear proof that Australia is perfect for any families, for vacation or retirement. Any travel visa for Australia, permanent or temporary will find good times in the country and at the same time, get exposed to a healthy environment to let the kids absorb wonderful and joyful lives. Parents will find assurance that they their kids will grow up in a very nice atmosphere.

Singapore came next to Australia, followed by Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates. United States of American and United Kingdom were named as the least friendly countries for children. Parents think that in both countries, kids are more likely to spend more time watching TV or playing computer games. Children are also exposed to junk foods.

Protection Against Attacks on Foreign Students in Australia

The Land of Oz is a country known as multicultural. This is the reason why there are more nationalities applying for Australian visa than any other visa. Most of these are applied by students. Young people seeking of quality education flock to their respective Australian embassies to get their student immigration permitted. Australian universities possess quality education, we are there and most of us know that. But despite this, education providers and Australia as a whole is in a big scandal. After a series of racism attacks against Indian students, is the multicultural society of Australia on the verge of fading away now?

The incident is very alarming. In any way that you look at it, you won't see any reason that will make the attacks forgivable, or at least acceptable.

Attacks happened inside the Melbourne city wherein mostly young Indians are the victims. In just a short time, there were already numbers of number of victims at the heart of Australia's second largest city. There was a man being slashed with a box-cutter, another was stabbed with a screwdriver. Although the investigators insist that the attacks were all just opportunistic, only intending to rob, there is still a major concern about the safety of international students.

All of these crimes led to a group of Indian students and advocates provoked to do protest along the streets of Melbourne. But the protest was not enough, and was too weak to matter. Protesters created a heavy traffic jam on major roads, refusing to move until they receive a commitment from the State Government that it will do more to prevent racial attacks. And this forced the authorities to dispose them.

The aftermath is, Indians felt they were treated inhumane and unjust. Some participants claimed that is the police who caused the trouble because they pushed the people back. The protesters issued a list of demands including calls for a multi-racial squad in the police force and accommodation on campus for all international students, Mr Gupta said, spokesman for the Federation of Indian Students of Australia.

Meanwhile, on a three-day visit by Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith in New Delhi, India, he reiterated that they are condemning such conducts. He also added that they, Australians, find any attacks contemptible with racial or racist overturn. They are not tolerating those deeds.

Smith also met with Minister for Overseas Indians Vayalar Ravi. During their meeting, the Australian minister said that unlike the tension between Canberra and New Delhi following the attacks on Indian students, the Indo-Australian relations had improved much and progress further. He was also quoted saying that there will be an assurance that whatever steps have been taken, each steps will be strengthened further to protect international students, especially the Indians.

For Australian Colleges, Visa is the Priority not Education- Is this True?

Got this news from an online news site. It says there that some Australian colleges are promoting their schools in hopes of more Australian visa than offering quality education. This criticism or allegation earned mixed reactions from Australians and of course, foreign students who are planning to study in Australia. Based on the news article, this statement is based on the asseveration is based on a government review of the US$15.5 billion industry released in March 10.

Although most students say that they are satisfied with the quality of education they are getting, a certain report comes out saying that there are operators of visa that were able to enter the market. According to the report, operators are not individual, they are the educational institutions, rising from nowhere, which we do not know if they really want to provide excellent academical achievements, or earn money from Australian student visa applicants.

Bruce Baird, author of the said review, is a former federal politician. He found out there are probably 20 percent of the vocational sector that you can judge as dodgy operators who are rotting (cheating) the system. Because of this, there is a crackdown on educational principles, making the sector unreliable for many students who failed to choose the right institution.

This allegation can be a great blow received largely by Australian universities. Maybe by now, students who are thinking of immigration to Australia are quite hesitant of doing it. This is due to a thought that they might not get the kind of education that they are looking for.

But for me, after analyzing the situation and the report, everything is still under the government control, and really far from becoming a major threat. It says on the report that there are only “some”. It's like the clean record of world-class Australian Universities was just stained. Ad another, this is not exactly about the quality of education, this is about the institutions who are prioritizing the Australian visa that are being applied instead of their duties. Students stay in any schools in Australia will root to their selection of their providers. And besides, the government has been supporting the introduction of tougher entry requirements for colleges and would move to restrict unethical student recruitment practices. The government will filter all the company's wishing to become education providers for foreign students and at the same time, apprehend those who fail to do their tasks.

Foreign students don't have to worry about the situation, because there is assurance on “most” Australian universities. You just have to choose the right one, and of course, choose also the eligible immigration services provider. This way, you'll find your journey to the top more convenient, in a less trouble atmosphere. Everything that you are dreaming of is reachable, you just need to make a good decision.
