Australia To Encourage More People To Move In

In Australia, skilled visa application has been one of the forms of visa that are widely applied for by a lot of people. This is not surprising, as Australia has long been considered as one of the best countries to work in. and it is likely that the number of applicants would get larger.

However, as one might have already known, Australia has also started to tightening up on worker immigration. Since last year, the country, through the Department of immigration and Citizenship, has implemented several new rules aimed at regulating the influx of immigrant workers into the country. Officials added that there are still a lot more changes that will be implemented.

In accordance to this, another program that is pursued by the government is encouraging incoming immigrant workers, as well as those currently in the country to settle into the areas that mostly needs them. This, according to, officials, will help solve the current worker shortages that is being experienced by these areas.

This one is in line with the so called sustainable population plan presented by Prime Minister Julia Gillard during the federal elections held two months ago. In this plan, Gillard hopes to solve the country's current problem by effectively managing the population and distributing these to the various regions that needs them. According to some analysts, this is one of the key points that made her win during the elections, as it seemingly gave a solution to the immigration issues hounding the country. And upon winning, Gillard assured the public that this one would indeed push through.

However, not a few groups are concerned that this one might actually be easier said done. They said that this one belies the fact that immigration is quite a complex issue. They also added that there are a lot of things that needs to be considered in order to encourage people to move into the mentioned areas.

One of these that they have pointed out is that the areas that often need them the most sometimes does not give them a lot of opportunities. For instance, the Australian outback, which has been undergoing a significant development in recent years. However, the relative inaccessibility of the region has shied away quite a lot of potential workers. This, observers say, need to be resolved first in order to encourage people to come in.

Gillard says that she knows about this. She said that the government is know working in order to make these regions more desirable to incoming workers. She also added that they are now pushing for incentives to be given to people for moving into the area.

Australia Builds Up Ties With Other Countries

For Australia, immigration has long been an important issue that the country must deal with. Indeed, the issue of immigration has been closely tied with so many aspect of Australian life. Thus, the country definitely puts out a lot of effort when dealing with immigration matters.

And since immigration is all about people from other countries moving to Australia, then it is vital that the government ensures that the transit of these people goes out well. Here, it is important that the Australian government has an extensive relationship with the countries where these immigrants are coming from. And thus, the government is on a continuous move to build up such a relationship.

Of all the regions in the world, it is the Asia Pacific area where much of the people moving to Australia are coming from. And so, this is the area being focus on by the country in improving its relationship with the nations that comprises these regions.

Of these nations, India has been one of the foremost countries that has established ties with the Land Down Under. In fact, Australia has a significant number of immigrants coming out from the Indian subcontinent. And according to experts, it is likely that the numbers would increase in the next few years.

Thus, both India and Australia have continuously sought to better improve their relation. According to Indian Foreign Minister S. M. Krishna, the interactions between the two countries are vital in order to ensure the safety of Indian residents living in the country. It is interesting to note that the two countries relationship had problems last year, as a lot of Indians were affected by the changes made in Australia's immigration policies. However, this one was quickly patched up by the two nations.

Another country that Australia is eying to establish relations with is China. It should be noted that in recent years, China's economy has significantly grown in size. This in turn, allowed many of citizens to travel abroad. And one of the biggest destinations for many Chinese travelers would be Australia. Thus, Australia has put in a great amount of effort to maintain the current relation that it has with the country.

Aside from the two mentioned nations, Australia is also continuously establishing international relations with other countries. For the Asian region, it has ties with almost all of the countries in the southeast, including the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore, all of whom have significant residents in the land down under.

Mixed Reactions On The Decline Of Immigration To Australia

As a lot of people have probably known about Australia, migration still remains as one of the major issues affecting the country. Indeed, with the way immigration has been closely tied with the country, one can see how this would affect Australia. And because of these, the Australian government is closely monitoring the level of immigration to the country.

However, the current immigration data might actually have mixed reactions coming from many sectors in Australia. According to the latest figures, the number of immigrants who has arrived into the country topped at 240,000 people. This one is significantly lower than the 320,000 posted last year. As a consequence, the population growth rate (of which migration is a big factor of) decreased from last year's 2.2 percent to around 1.8 percent this year.

According to experts, the decline in immigration numbers is still attributed to the effects of the changes made by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to the country's immigration programs. It can be recalled that the DIAC started the implementation of these new rules since early last yea. Many of these changes were intended to regulate the number of people going into the country. However, a lot of experts have said that these will likely cause a large decrease in the number of immigrants into the country.

Indeed, the figures are showing that there is a significant decline in the immigrant arrivals. Oddly enough, some sectors in the government are actually very welcoming of the development. According to immigration officials, these are actually the results that they are expecting. They also added that the lower immigration numbers will make it easier for the government to manage the population.

Interestingly, this one is in fact very much inline with current Prime Minister Julia Gillard's sustainable population policy. Gillard unveiled the plan during the recent federal elections held in the country last August, which she won. According to her, Australia needs to effectively control and manage its population in order to sustain its current rate of development.

However, the Australian business community is actually not well too impressed with the happenings. They said that the decline is likely to cause the country's economy a big deal. As it is, Australia is highly dependent on immigrant labor in order to make its economy run, and the decline in the number of people coming in will surely affect their businesses. Thus they urged the government to try to encourage more people to move into the country.

The Australian Elections In The Eyes Of The British

During the recent federal elections in Australia, visa holders are not the only ones that followed closely. Indeed, a lot of groups have monitored the progress of the elections since its announcement early in July until the new government was finally announced in early September. Even those coming from other countries followed the event closely.

It is interesting to note that the recently concluded elections in Australia is actually remarkable in that it was conducted almost immediately after the leadership in the ruling party was changed. Prime Minister Julia Gillard called the elections only weeks after replacing Kevin Rudd in the position. It should be noted that, although such a move is normal in Australia's complex political system, the country's position in world affairs is significant such that political happenings here will definitely have an effect.

One of the countries that have closely watched the happenings in Australia is the United Kingdom. In fact, the election in Australia will surely have a significant effect in the elections that would be held in the country. This one is indicative of how close the ties really are between the two countries.

It should be noted that Britain is historically the one that has established Australia as a colony during the 18th and 19th century. Even today, the Land Down Under actually honors its British heritage by considering the English Monarch (currently Queen Elizabeth II) as its head of state. Thus, it is not surprising that the United Kingdom sees Australia as its little brother.

And this one goes on even further, as both Australia and Britain actually the same form of government (a parliamentary one at that). Thus, many political analysts consider the elections in Australia as a glimpse at what might likely happen in the elections in the UK.

In the case of the recent results of the elections in Australia, a stalemate occurred when both the Labor and Liberal Parties were not able to get a majority in the House of Representatives. It tool almost two weeks before it was resolve, when the winning independent candidates finally swung their support to the Labor Party. According to some analysts, this is an indication that the sentiments of the Australian voting public are slowly moving away from those espoused by the two parties.

However, other British analysts have said that, while it is a good idea to reference the continent's politics for what would happen in the kingdom, there are still a big difference between the two. They also said that the two countries face differing issues. Thus, there is a possibility that things would come out differently in terms of the elections.

Australia Welcomes New Zealand Travel Boom

The group we are talking of here are those people coming from New Zealand. As you can probably see, Australia and New Zealand actually maintains a close relationship with each other. And because of this close relationship, New Zealanders can move in to Australia freely and vice versa.

The close ties that the two countries share can be attributed to their inked history. For instance, British explorer Captain James Cook, who founded Australia during the late 18th century, also made several travels to the two islands that would later become New Zealand. On the other hand, Abel Tasman, the man who ultimately discovered New Zealand, also explored the southern portion of the Australian continent.

During the modern times, the two countries worked closely together. During the war periods, the two countries established the Australia New Zealand Army Corps (or ANZAC), which was a joint military force. On the other hand, the two countries have also signed treaties with each other that granted special privileges to their citizens. One of these privileges is the ability of citizens of one country to travel to the other without having to secure a visa first.

And this is where we go back to the start of this article. As the privileges are accorded to all of the citizens of both countries, this opens a lot of opportunities to many people. And in recent years, the number of people coming from New Zealand and heading to Australia is steadily increasing.

For this one, Australia is also benefiting greatly. For instance, the current job boom that the continent is experiencing has a lot to thank Kiwis (as the folks in New Zealnd are often referred to) for. As it is, many New Zealanders bring in the need skills to fill in Australia's skills shortages. And both countries are engaging in a health trade with each other.

Thus, it is not surprising that many sectors in Australian society are very welcoming of Kiwis. In fact there are several programs aimed at encouraging more travelers from New Zealand to come in. and for its part, New Zealand is also keen on pursuing increased migration between the two of them,
